31절. 고향에서 From Hometown                                         

 

비애

 

남이가지 않은길을 Those who go first,
먼저가서 경험하여 Explore the untrodden path,
그에대한 알음알이 Accumulating knowledge and experience,
지식쌓은 사람들을  Known for their understanding,
선지자라 칭한다네 Are called prophets.

목소리가 큰사람이 As the saying goes, the one with a loud voice wins,
이긴다는 말있듯이 If one knows nothing yet argues loudly,
아무것도 모르면서  There's nothing to say,
큰소리에 반박하고  To those who boast without knowledge.
우긴다면 할말없네

조금안다 재세한다 Making claims with little understanding,
트집잡아 힐난하고  Picking on trivial matters,
어렸을때 어쨌느니 Asking about childhood and family,
그집안이 어떠하니 Spreading rumors,
소문내고 다닌다네 These are the ways of the ignorant.

선지자의 고향에선 In the hometown of the prophet,
어떤일을 할때에도 No matter what one does,
선입관념 가지고서  Having preconceived notions,
상대방이 대하기에  Exerting minimal influence,
영향력이 거의없네 In dealing with others.

어떤일도 말을해도  No matter what is said or done,
행을해도 믿지않고 Not believed or trusted,
그친구는 그렇지뭐 Judging narrowly,
단적으로 판단하여 Unable to see beyond,
그이상을 못한다네 That's how the friend is.
